DIXON – Robert E. Heuer, 90, of Dixon, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at Heritage Square. He was a general service representative for Commonwealth Edison for 41 years, retiring in 1982.
Mr. Heuer was born Feb. 9, 1920, the son of Edward and Agnes (Blomdahl) Heuer. He married Elizabeth Vrona on March 14, 1947, in Rockford. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2007.
Robert was a 1940 graduate of Scovill Business College in Sterling, and was a member of Dixon American Legion Post 12 and the Disabled American Veterans Association. Robert served in the Army during World War II, fighting in the
Battle of the Bulge, and becoming a prisoner of war. Robert was a true gentleman, always kind, and never having a negative word about anyone.
Survivors include one nephew, David (Kathy) Vrona of Champaign; two great-nephews, Nathan Vrona of Phoenix and Clint (Sarah) Vrona of Fort Worth, Texas; one great-great-nephew, Justus Vrona; one aunt, Louise Schmidt of Milwaukee; and his cousins, including Helen Hopkins of Franklin Grove, and several others in the Wisconsin area.
